"Django Unchained" discussion Print
Thursday, January 24 2013, 7:00pm - 9:00pm by Calendar Hits : 2151

Go see Django Unchained, if you haven't already, and then on Thursday, Jan. 24th at 7 PM, join in discussing the movie and the new article by Carl Dix in Revolution newspaper, "The Truth about Slavery...And the Truth about Django Unchained."

There will be a screening of Carl's 30-minute speech in New York where he says, "Something important is happening.  Django Unchained, a movie produced by a major Hollywood studio about slavery in the United States of America, has been seen by millions of people. In the words of its director, Quentin Tarantino, "When slave narratives are done on film, they tend to be historical with a capital H, with an arm's-length quality to them. I wanted to break that history-under-glass aspect, I wanted to throw a rock through that glass and shatter it for all times, and take you into it."

7:00 pm Thursday, January 24th at Revolution Books/Libros Revolucion, 5726 Hollywood Blvd., at Wilton. For more information, call 323.463.3500.
