Our Raising the Bars Prison segment will have Brotha Mateef with an update on Mumia Abu Jamal .
We will follow with the African Drum Beat Historical calendar of significant global struggles and personalities who have help make the world a better place.
We will have an interview with Sista Pat Hill Executive Director of the Afro-American Police League and a Co-convener of the Black People Against Police Torture whom this week successfully had Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge arrested for 3 felony charges related to the torture of over 200 primarily African people over the past 20 year. This chief pigs forced confessions of arrestee’s were so corrupted that the governor of Illinois George Ryan granted all death row inmates reduction of sentencing due to forced confessions.
Our central them is commemoration the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco 3rd World strike led by the Black Student Union which was a watershed event in the Black Studies, Afro-Centric, Pan African studies, student movement and the inclusion of African youth into the U.S. College system. Furthermore this struggle gave rise Chicano Studies, Asian studies and Native American Studies and for all people of color the inclusion of Faculty, Staff and Students from the nationalities that make up the United States. The San Francisco State strike was composed of 80% of the entire San François Student population of all nationalities which successfully closed down the college for 5 months and is heralded as a major spark to 2nd rise of the student activist movement post the Ists being SNCC the Student Non-Violent Co-Ordination committee.
Our special guest will be Campus organize Omowale, Dr. Jimmy Garret a key organizer of the strike , and a member of SNCC and the Black Panther Party as well as founding member of the Black Panther Party.
This manifestation of Inter-organization unity to bring about radical change is a case study that needs to be seriously study.
