            Greetings ! This is Sista Arisa with Freedom Nows agenda for this Tues. December 29,2009. Freedom Now has a  full plate  tonight beginning with Brotha Obeng of  the Solidarity Movement for  a New Ethiopia. Brother Obeng will  provide an update on Sista Birtukan Mideska the 35 year old  Chairwomen of the United Democratic Party of Ethiopia  the foremost opposition party. Sista Birtukan   has been given  a life  sentence in prison as part of the repression of  the opposition party by the government of Ethiopia. . . We will  follow with Dedon and the African Drum Beat Historical calendar which places a special emphasis on the significant role of women historically in the age old quest for social justice. We will follow with a replay, of a better audio of Mike  Novicks critique of the European in the US progressive movements.. Mike a member of the People Against Racist  Terror and ARA Anti Racist Action is a regular commentary in our White/European studies segment.

      Our central theme will be a panel presentation recorded  Dec. 28 at WBAI in New York. This presentation was in response to the  recent publication by the Miami Herald of Carlos Moore’s“Racism In Cuba” and the accompany “Statement of Conscience by African Americas.  60 prominent Black America scholars, artist and professionals have condemned the Cuban government on their allege crackdown on the country’s budding civil rights movement. Signatures such as  Ruby Dee actress, Cornel West, Professor Ron Walters, Susan Taylor of Essence Magazine, Kathleen Cleaver of the Black Panther Party just to name a few. Tonights presentation  will be a rebuttal to this statement by  Amiri Baraka world reknown poet,playwright and revolutionary,  Lucius Walker of IFCO who has send thousands of tons of medical aide in defiance of the US blockage as well a co-ordinates the Cuban medical scholarship program for African students in the US, Malika Bandelle of the Black August Hip Hop exchange program with Cuba.and Sam Anderson of the Black Left Unity Network. These Africans  have a long history of travel and work inside Cuba.

  Our music mix will include: Bob Dylan, Groupo Moncado,Zap Mama, Maoulama, Aswad Dub, U-roy,Ramataou Diakite and a clip from Kwame Ture on history.
