On the eve of the performance by the Wild Magnolias, watch this insightful documentary about New Orleans's vibrant Mardi Gras Indian culture. Produced and directed by Lisa Katzman, the film profiles the late legendary Allison "Tootie" Montana, former chief of the Yellow Pocahontas Hunters. Long admired for his gorgeously beaded and feathered Mardi Gras costumes, "Tootie" is greatly revered for turning Mardi Gras Indian life away from gang-style violence toward artistic accomplishment and innovation. (2006, 97 min. No MPAA rating.)
