KPFK Radio will broadcast perhaps one of the last interviews granted by Rodney King before his untimely death on June 17, 2012. The interview was recorded on May 10, 2012, for future broadcast, intended to be a 1-hour special edition of “Sojourner Truth” hosted by Margaret Prescod. The interview will serve as a reflection on the impact of the beating that sparked the 1992 LA Rebellion, one of the largest urban rebellions in U.S. history, and lead to the departure of then Police Chief Darryl Gates as well as the implementation of a civilian panel for the review of police misconduct. The broadcast will air Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7am PDT on 90.7 FM, and via internet here. |
