The Delhi Gang Rape Case
The SWANA Collective would like to wish our listeners a very happy belated March 8th International Women’s Day. Every year, the SWANA Collective dedicates the entire month of March programming to women in the SWANA regions.
Today’s program will summarize the events known as the “Delhi gang rape case” that transpired in Dec 2012, which has catapulted a widespread public discourse on sexual violence and sexuality in India. The program will conclude with a powerful statement made in Hindi by Kavita Krishnan, Secretary of the All India Progressive Women’s Association based in Delhi, which was stated and translated shortly after the case was made public.
The show will also feature music by the contemporary folk band, Rastak for the Persian New Year of Navroz.
