Today’s show begins with “Creative Provocateurs, Vol. 1.” Ringleader, J.M. Morris, has graced Pacifica Performance Showcas with “Religion: The Content of Their Character”, which aired on 7/25/09. Also joining us are several authors and performers who are part of the “Creative Provocateurs, Vol. 1” show at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica. LeShay Tomlinson performs an excerpt from Joanne's "Uh-uh," and we are joined in-studio by Antwone Fisher, whose inspirational life story became a movie starring and directed by Denzel Washington. An excerpt of Antwone’s “Finding Fish” is performed live in-studio by actor Isaiah Washington; and Tina Andrews whose play “Charlotte Sophia” reveals that the former Queen of England was part-black. An excerpt of this piece is performed by actress Meta Golding.
In the second half, star of stage and screen, Michael York (“Romeo & Juliet,” “Cabaret,” “Austin Powers,” among others) joins us to talk about his latest project as the narrator of “Mary Pickford: The Muse of the Movies” a benefit screening for the World Research Foundation, an extensive resource for information on alternative, complementary, and ancient medicine. John Wildman joins us to explain more about the Foundation and their fundraising event on August 28th at the Motion Picture Academy, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the legendary Mary Pickford in the movies.
