L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air Tooth and Claw, written by Michael Hollinger, directed by Jessica Kubzansky and featuring Stephanie Beatriz, Morgan Sheppard and Cynthia Watros. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, December 2 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.
A new scientific director has arrived on the Galápagos Islands, one of the most delicate and complex ecosystems on the planet. But when she discovers that the locals have been overfishing for their own survival, a vicious battle over resources ensues. The broadcast includes a conversation with author and journalist Carol Ann Bassett about the real-life events that inspired Tooth and Claw, as well as a conversation with playwright Michael Hollinger.
This play is part of L.A. Theatre Works’ Relativity Series featuring science-themed plays. Major funding for the Relativity Series is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, to enhance public understanding of science and technology in the modern world.
