L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air The Seagull, written by Anton Chekhov, translated by Christopher Hampton, directed by Rosalind Ayres and featuring Calista Flockhart, T.R. Knight, Josh Stamberg and Stephen Collins. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, December 9 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

Chekhov’s groundbreaking drama is considered one of the 19th century’s most important plays. In this new production, Calista Flockhart stars as the vain, proud actress Irina, who brings her young lover to a lakeside resort in Russia. The Seagull introduced a new realism to the world of theater that has made it an international favorite of performers and audiences alike.
