The Life of Galileo

L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air The Life of Galileo, written by Bertolt Brecht in a new translation by David Hare, directed by Martin Jarvis, and featuring Stacy Keach and Joanne Whalley. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, December 16 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

One of the brightest lights of the Scientific Revolution wants the world to see itself anew. But even the courage of his convictions can’t save the great Galileo Galilei from the guardians of the status quo. The broadcast includes a conversation about Galileo with Dr. E.C. Krupp, the Director of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

This play is part of L.A. Theatre Works’ Relativity Series featuring science-themed plays. Major funding for the Relativity Series is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, to enhance public understanding of science and technology in the modern world.
