L.A. Theatre Works’ Radio Theatre Series will air Awake and Sing!, written by Clifford Odets, directed by Bartlett Sher and featuring Mark Ruffalo, Jane Kaczmarek, Emily Bergl, Ben Gazzara and Richard Kind. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Sunday, March 10 from 8 -10 pm on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles (98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.5 FM in Ridgecrest/China Lake and 93.7 FM in Rancho Bernardo/North San Diego), and can also be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

Three generations cope with survival and grasp for dreams during the depression years in New York. An all star cast portrays the struggles of the financially destitute Berger family in what is considered by many to be Odets’ best work. The broadcast includes an interview with Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher and a conversation with historian Ellen Schiff about the genesis of Awake and Sing!
