Mighty Uke (Motion Picture) Roadshow during the NAMM Music Convention

Ultrastar Cinemas at the Anaheim Garden Walk a couple of blocks from the Anaheim Convention Center.

As well as the film, ukulele virtuoso James Hill, who is a keynote speaker at the convention, will perform along with special guests Jim & Liz Beloff. There will be loads of give-aways, including Kala ukuleles, Jumpin' Jim songbooks and MIGHTY UKE DVDs and T-shirts.

And don't forget to bring your ukes for the giant strum-along at the end of the show.

"Jumpin" Jim Beloff will be giving two

workshops at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica (3101 Pico Blvd.)

12:30 - 2:00 PM will be a beginner's workshop. I'll introduce you to the basics of playing the ukulele including holding, tuning, strumming and making the chords. We will play through a dozen well-known

songs learning new chords, strums, tips and techniques along the way. Bring a GCEA soprano-tuned uke and be ready to have a lot of fun.

3:00 - 4:30 PM

I'll be giving an intermediate workshop. The emphasis here is on more challenging arrangements and chord solos with sophisticated jazz chord changes. Also, finger-picking patterns and performance techniques will be highlighted. Time will be set aside at the end of the workshop for those who would like to perform a song. O'AHU Brings The Flavor of Hawaii
The band O'ahu is made up of 3 talented musicians totaling
more than 150 years of performing a diverse number of original, traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music, and oldies.  All vocalists, their music highlights beautiful and unique styles of harmonies.  O'ahu will also be accompanying 3 beautiful hula dancers who will be dancing throughout the evening.  They have appeared several times at Backstage with their show and with Hawaiian Pidgin English story teller Kamaka Brown to rave reviews!

The band "O'ahu" consists of Uncle Roddy Ali'i Kaulana Gregory, lead singer and accomplished musician performing since 1963, Robert Ihilani Agno, wrote #1 hit "Maui", and Kawika Dacoscos , an internationally touring and accomplished musician. All vocalists, their music highlights beautiful and unique styles of harmonies.
