Dr. Faviana Hirsch,
of Coyote Radio and Latin American Journals Senior Correspondent, joins us for the first segment of today's show to discuss the Carpinteria�s school board vote last Tuesday night against the 15 member mascot advisory committee to retain almost all the Native American imagery across the Carpinteria high school campus where residents have cheered on the offensive logo, the Warriors, since 1928. Dr. Hirsch is a member of the mascot advisory committee.

community activist, organizer of Indigenous Peoples Day, and advisor to TonaTierra (www.tonatierra.org), joins us for this segment of today's show to discuss what transpired at the 4th Annual North America Regional Indigenous Peoples Caucus Preparatory Session for the 8th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous issues held this past weekend in DIne' Nation (Window Rock, AZ). Shannon also discusses the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, its implementation, and the future of the instrument as a means of decolonization, self-determination, and sovereignty.
