Amazon Watch (http://www.amazonwatch.org/) and based in Washington D.C., provides listeners with an update on Peruvian President Alan Garcia's recent actions suspending the constitutional rights of Amazonian based Indigenous peoples, arresting and charging  Indigenous leaders with crimes of sedition and treason,  killing of Indigenous protesters attempting to defend their traditional homelands against the extractive industry and Peru's Free Trade Agreement with the United States, and indigenous peoples "temporary" victory.

Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Council ((http://www.inuitcircumpolar.com), spoke at the United Nations 8th Session on the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) on 05/21/09 as part a special thematic panel on Global Warming's impact on Indigenous Nation and peoples within the Artic. Today's sound encompasses her and the Inuit Circumpolar Council's presentation to the 8th Session of the UNPFII. The Inuit Circumpolar Council is an international organization of Inuit dedicated to protect and advance Inuit rights and interests on the international level. She also serves as Chair of the Indigenous Peoples� Secretariat to the Arctic Council.  Ms. Cochran previously served as Executive Director of the Alaska Native Science Commission, a non-profit organization created to bring together research and science in partnership with Alaska Native communities.
