In late July, a dozen organizations launched the Summer of Trust, a campaign to defend Dr. LeRoy Carhart's new abortion clinic in Germantown, MD, from the Christian Fascist mobs assembled against the clinic by Operation Rescue. We'll hear reports from people who took part, including Debra Sweet, National Director of World Can't Wait, and a young woman who traveled from LA to join the protests. Roy Bourgeois, a Maryknoll priest who has been at the forefront of struggle against injustice, speaking truth to power, especially against the School of the Americas, a training center for torturers from around the world. He recently received a letter from the Maryknoll order of the Catholic Church ordering him to stop supporting the ordination of women as priests, threatening him with expulsion. He has refused to recant. He talks about the stand he's taking and what it means to himself and to his work.
