The tenth anniversary of the American torture chamber at Guantanamo is January 11. Michael welcomes Andy Worthington, author of The Guantanamo Files, freelance investigative journalist and filmmaker, to talk about the past and future of this US prison camp. Adesola Osakalumi, who alternates in the title role of "Fela!," based on the life of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the Nigerian musician who created a new type of music, Afrobeat, mixing pounding eclectic rhythms (a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies) with incendiary lyrics that openly attacked the corrupt and oppressive military dictatorships that rule Nigeria and much of Africa. His songs of rebellion were an inspiration to millions. "Fela!" is playing through January 22, at the Ahmanson Theatre.
