In Memoriam:

Roz and Howard Larman

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of FolkScene founder, Howard Larman.

Howard was one of a kind. A generous soft-spoken man with a love for folk music he shared with his wife and co-founder of FolkScene Roz Larman. Their musical journey started 35 years ago and they shared that journey with FolkScene listeners almost every Sunday night during this time.

FolkScene is not just a music program, but a testament of two people who loved Folk Music so much that they dedicated their life to sharing it with as many people that would listen. How fortunate for us all that we were listening. FolkScene's broadcast created listeners and friends sharing their love of music that reaches worldwide just like FolkScene's weekly program.

Honoring Howard's spirit and what he would want, FolkScene will continue; the circle remains unbroken. The responsibilities of FolkScene now lovingly rest with Roz and engineer Peter Cutler who will carry the love and spirit of FolkScene forward.

We will miss Howard's spirit, gentleness, boyish laughter and his wonderful telling stories of his adventures in the musical world of Folkies. All who listen to him weekly on FolkScene and those of us who have been fortunate enough to know him will miss him.

We rest easier knowing that he is in folk heaven with other folkies sharing stories and their love of music. Our love and prayers are with Roz Larman and the Larman children at this time.

Howard's contributions to the folk music industry, public radio and to our radio station will live on in the frequencies of KPFK for generations to come. Thank You Howard for being a friend, a mentor, a colleague and one hell of a funny guy. We will miss you so much. On behalf of the staff, management, programmers and the entire Pacifica Radio Network we extend our deepest condolences to Roz Larman and the entire Larman Family.

Howard will truly be missed.

Memorial Services for Howard Larman will took place on
Tuesday evening May 15th 7-10:00 PM at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church. We would like to thank everyone who attended for helping to make this a meroable experience.
