One of America's most popular black female vocalists, especially in the 1950s, Dinah Washington best known for "What A Difference a Day Makes," "This Bitter Earth," and others, she was outspoken, controversial, with a blazing talent. Despite her jazz foundation, she was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Tony Bennett said of her, "She was a good friend of mine, you know. She was great. She used to just come in with two suitcases in Vegas without being booked...And she'd stay as long as she wanted. And all the kids in all the shows on the Strip would come that night. They'd hear that she's in town and it would be packed just for her performance."
Recorded before a live audience at the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles in May of 2002.
