KPFK's Rebel Alliance News was started by Ziri Rideaux at the end of November 2022 to provide cutting-edge, progressive news covering local, domestic and international issues that are censored or disregarded in mainstream media. The news collective now includes over 20 volunteers providing news, commentary, analysis and community calendar tips. The hour-long daily evening newscast is produced locally with international, national and state inputs but a strong dose of the beats that are shaping life in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, with periodic reports from Ventura/Santa Barbara -- and seeking regular volunteer beat reporters/stringers from Orange County, Long Beach, the Inland Empire, and San Diego. This is an all volunteer news-gathering, editing and broadcast operation, Monday through Friday at 6 PM, complete with commentaries and cultural coverage and your audio letters to the editors.
