Transmitter Status Update

January 17, 2025 - Update on Power Restoration at Mt. Wilson

KPFK has been off the air since Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2025. Our team is working tirelessly to restore power and get us back on the airwaves.

The issue began when our back-up generator unexpectedly shut down due to a significant water leak in the cooling system. As of 5:00 PM today, our engineers are hard at work at Mt. Wilson, but it’s too dark to safely transport and install the new generator we’ve ordered.

At sunrise tomorrow, Saturday, January 18, our Chief Engineer Stuart Landau will meet the team on the mountain to get the generator running and connected to our transfer panel.

We deeply appreciate your patience during these challenging times. In the meantime, you can still tune in to our live stream at www.kpfk.org or directly via our player.
